Detailed design for rehabilitation of the Khachinchay Reservoir and canal
A strategic hydraulic infrastructure engineering project vital for reviving the agricultural and water resources network across the Karabakh economic zone. The scope encompasses the preparation of comprehensive design-estimate documentation and regulatory compliance files for state expertise approval towards the capital overhaul and refurbishment of the Khachinchay Reservoir and its primary conveyance canal in the Aghdam district.
The engineered scope includes:
• Structural inspection, slope stabilization, and concrete face slab refurbishment across the embankment dam;
• Complete modernization and capacity restoration of service and emergency spillway chutes, including stilling basins;
• Full mechanical rehabilitation of bottom outlets with automated sluice gates and intake valves;
• Desiltation of the reservoir bed to recover designed gross storage capacity (up to 23 million m³);
• Channel reshaping, sediment clearance, and cast-in-place impermeable concrete lining along the main distribution canal.
Commissioning the rehabilitated complex secures a dependable irrigation water supply for approximately 7,000 hectares of arable lands throughout the Aghdam, Tartar, Barda, and Goranboy districts while eliminating hydraulic failure risks.
