Conceptual Design of the Agsuchay Reservoir
A conceptual hydraulic engineering project focused on water resource optimization, flood mitigation, and agricultural infrastructure advancement across the Mountainous Shirvan economic region. The initiative outlines the construction of an impoundment and regulation reservoir on the Agsuchay River in the Agsu district to alleviate seasonal irrigation deficits, protect downstream settlements from flash floods, and secure dependable water supply for a 7,500-hectare agricultural command area, including 3,400 hectares of newly developed arable land.
Key structural and volumetric parameters of the proposed facility:
• Dam maximum structural height: 55.0 m;
• Dam crest length: 496.0 m;
• Gross reservoir design storage capacity: 30.0 million m³;
• Useful (active) live storage capacity: 25.0 million m³.
The conceptual engineering scope delivers detailed hydrological catchment modeling, hydraulic sizing of emergency spillways and bottom outlet works equipped with energy dissipators, alongside layout planning for gravity conveyance connections to the regional distribution canal network.
