Design of sanitary and environmental protection for Jeyranbatan Reservoir
A high-priority environmental and hydraulic engineering project designed to safeguard the sanitary integrity and prevent contamination of the Jeyranbatan Reservoir — the vital strategic drinking water source for Baku, Sumgayit, and the Absheron Peninsula. The assignment delivers comprehensive engineering designs establishing multi-tiered physical and hydraulic barriers to eliminate anthropogenic pollution risks across the impoundment catchment.
The engineered scope encompasses:
• Delineation, spatial organization, and structural perimeter fencing of strict sanitary protection zones (SPZ) equipped with remote surveillance assets;
• Interceptor diversion channels, perimeter storm sewers, and detention basins engineered to capture and bypass contaminated overland runoff around the reservoir basin;
• Design of dedicated stormwater runoff treatment facilities featuring oil-grit separators, sedimentation units, and multi-stage filtration;
• Shoreline revetment, embankment slope stabilization, and bio-engineering measures mitigating wave wash and bank erosion;
• Telemetric real-time water quality monitoring stations integrating SCADA instrumentation for early warning contamination detection.
Implementing these engineering solutions guarantees long-term water quality compliance and safeguards public health for millions of consumers across the metropolitan region.
