Design of the Nikki Beach Baku artificial island
As part of the "Nikki Beach Baku" project, the creation of an artificial island dedicated to premium leisure and hospitality is engineered off the coast of Nardaran in the Caspian Sea (Baku). Positioned in shallow waters approximately 160–200 m offshore, the island encompasses an area of roughly 1 hectare, designed to host one- and two-story recreational pavilions, beachfront cabanas, and integrated swimming pools. The core structural system consists of an enclosed rock-fill perimeter dike with heights ranging from 3 to 5 m above the seabed. Seaward slopes are armored against heavy wave action through stone pitching and 0.5-ton and 1-ton hexaleg-type shaped concrete armor units, providing safe and durable structural performance under Caspian Sea hydrometeorological conditions.
