Detailed design of the Vilashchay Reservoir irrigation network
A high-priority hydraulic and land reclamation engineering project focused on advancing irrigation systems and optimizing agricultural yields across southern Azerbaijan. The assignment encompassed the delivery of detailed design and cost estimate documentation for the construction of an extensive irrigation network and auxiliary hydraulic control works supplied directly from the Vilashchay Reservoir in the Masalli district.
The engineered scope encompasses:
• Alignment, hydraulic sizing, and structural detailing of primary and secondary distribution canals lined with cast-in-place impermeable reinforced concrete;
• Design of pressurized conveyance pipe networks to secure stable heads across regional farm off-takes;
• Engineering of distribution chambers, automated control gates, inverted siphons, aqueducts, and drainage culvert crossings;
• Deployment of automated flow-metering stations and telemetric SCADA instrumentation for real-time water accounting and remote discharge control.
Executing the project eliminates deep percolation and conveyance losses, delivering dependable gravity and pressurized irrigation across expansive arable acreages in the Masalli and Jalilabad districts to accelerate regional farming productivity.
