Design of the Ayrichay reservoir and distribution canals
A major hydraulic engineering and land reclamation project aimed at finalizing the construction works and commissioning the Ayrichay (Eyrichay) Reservoir within the Sheki-Zagatala economic zone. The assignment encompasses updating detailed engineering designs to complete the dam impoundment works and develop an extensive modern network of conveyance and distribution canals.
The engineered scope includes:
• Structural condition assessments, design rectifications, and final engineering for the embankment dam core and shell;
• Completion of service and emergency spillway chutes, low-level outlet conduits, and downstream stilling basins;
• Route alignment and structural detailing of reinforced concrete-lined distribution canals and pressurized pipelines engineered to minimize seepage losses;
• Design of associated water control headworks, automated regulator gates, metering flumes, and aqueduct crossings;
• Deployment of SCADA telemetry systems for continuous hydrometric monitoring, discharge control, and dam safety surveillance.
Finalizing the project secures an uninterrupted gravity and pumped irrigation supply across extensive cultivated farmlands in the Sheki and Gakh districts while providing essential downstream flood control.
